Would you trust this man ?

trust agWe know that the Fiji Pensioners can never trust him, he is the perpetrator of the decree that deprived Fiji pensioners of their basic civli rights and their pension entitlement. He directly deprived them of the right to appeal to the judiciary for justice.

This man is now appealing to people to work with the government, a government controlled by him that did not hesitate to steal from the weakest members of our society.

The measure of a government or a society it how it treats its weakest members including the elderly.. In this, the current Fiji administration now fully controlled by this man has failed miserably.

FIJI AIRWAYS ANNOUNCES FY2012/2013 FINANCIAL RESULTS

Investment in new aircraft, products and services key result-drivers

Nadi, Fiji – Air Pacific Ltd., which rebranded to ‘Fiji Airways’ just over three weeks ago, today announced its financial results for the fiscal year ended 31 March 2013 (1 April 2012 – 31 March 2013).  Mr. Nalin Patel, Chairman of Board of Directors of Air Pacific Limited Trading as Fiji Airways, said that the airline and its consolidated group (Air Pacific Group) both made operating profits. (Air Pacific Group comprises Fiji Airways, its wholly owned subsidiary Pacific Sun, and a 38.75% stake in the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa on Denarau Island). Fiji Airways had another record breaking year in terms of its revenue and passenger numbers.

  • Fiji Airways reported a profit before income tax of $18.0m, compared to a profit before income tax of $16.5m for 2011/12. Excluding prior period adjustments, Fiji Airways delivered an underlying profit before income tax of $9.5m.
  • Air Pacific Group reported a profit before income tax of $22.4m, compared to a profit before income tax of $14.2m for 2011/12. Excluding prior period adjustments, Air Pacific Group delivered a profit before income tax of $13.4m.

On a net basis, Fiji Airways reported an after tax profit of $14.1m and Air Pacific Group reported an after tax profit of $17.8m (versus after tax profits of $11.4m and $10.7m respectively for 2011/12). In addition, and before any further increase in the size of its fleet, Fiji Airways increased annual revenue by $13.8m compared to 2011/2012, and by $104.3m compared to FY2010/2011. The airline also carried 14,167 more passengers than in 2011/12, and 99,649 more passengers than in 2010/2011.

Mr. Patel attributed the airline’s decrease in underlying operating profit this year to the floods in April 2012, Cyclone Evan in December 2012, expenditures related to rebranding the airline, and costs related to preparation for induction of its airline’s new fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft.

“Given that we initially expected to make a loss during this transition year, wherein we are exiting our older B747s and inducting our first ever owned A330 wide-body aircraft, I’m quite pleased with our results for 2012/13,” Mr. Patel said. “These results handily beat our business plan, and I continue to be thrilled with the successful turnaround of Fiji’s national airline. Credit for this must be given to our dedicated and hard-working employees.”

“Just three short years ago we experienced the biggest loss in our history, so a second year of sustained operating profit is a good result. Our focus is now on inducting our new A330s and expediting efficiencies in our fleet and schedule this year.”

Mr. Patel added that confidence in the airline’s business plan was underscored by the support of German banks KfW IPEX-Bank and Helaba, who are financing the airline’s brand new A330 aircraft, backed by the Export Credits Guarantee Department of the British Government (ECGD).

“We have consistently stated that our restructure and turnaround plan is an on-going process, and we are still not done yet. Our team knows that there is a lot of hard work and commitment required to see the changes through to completion. Our plan is to build a platform to be sustainably profitable and to allow our staff, shareholders and the entire country to benefit from our success.”

“We remain ever mindful of the possible challenges posed by market uncertainty, a slowdown of major world economies, and the ever-present threat of further volatility in oil prices. Just three weeks ago we re-launched Air Pacific as Fiji Airways and we are thrilled by how well our rebranding efforts have been received both here in Fiji and abroad. We have always felt we are a small airline which punches well above its weight, and public and customer reactions to our new planes and new branding are proving us right. With brand new aircraft, new on board features like angled lie-flat beds, state of the art Panasonic in-flight entertainment, and a new Fijian service proposition, our customers will definitely have the best flying experience in the South Pacific.”

Fiji’s New Dictator ?

ASK 3Can it be true, has this man really taken total control of Fiji? He has certainly managed to place all his friends and confidants in positions of power, which gives him an extreme level of control.

It is said his office drafted the replacement constitution and ensured it gave him virtually unlimited power.

It is said he has at least 50% of the media constantly promoting him, which equates to him promoting himself.

It is said he cleverly manages a schedule for the Prime Minister which ensures Frank is constantly out of Fiji, thereby allowing his office to have total control over 14 Ministerial portfolios.

It is said he is allowed total control over government (tax payer) owned organizations/bodies; also in breach of corporate laws and standards has not published the annual accounts of Air Pacific for the past three years.

It is said he has put severe constraints on the “Rule of Law” in Fiji, due to all the decrees he has promulgated.

It is said that his greed for power and money will result in the downfall of the current government should there ever be free and fair elections.

Urgent Message for PM Voreqe Bainimarama,

FB DeskWake Up Frank, Wake Up NOW

Wake up before it is too late Frank, your most favoured Minister is on a rampage to satisfy his addiction to power and greed. You have allowed him too much rope Frank, he has already driven a wedge between yourself and your former supporters, indeed even your comrades in arms are appalled by the latest maneuvers of this Minister.

Your hatchet man is no longer satisfied with crumbs from the table, he wants the whole cake, and the truth is he already has most of it.

People are saying you are no longer in control Frank, they are saying that your most favoured Minister is running Fiji. making all the decisions and they no longer feel that they can vote for you if there is an election… Frank please wake up.

People are saying that your most favoured Minister is a cold, calculating, compassionless vindictive individual, who is handing out special favours to his friends at the expense of the nation, they are saying this man will bring you down because you continue to allow him to manipulate you…… Frank please, please wake up.

Look to history Frank, Caesar trusted Brutus above all others and Brutus lured him to his death.

Caesar should have listened to his wife, for she begged him not to go when Brutus called.

Please wake up Frank, there is still much that needs to be done, there is still much you must do for Fiji….

Government Vehicle GP 256 = DANGEROUS HOON

fijiflagwavingOnce again we have government vehicle GP 256, driving down Bau Street this morning at approximately 10.00 AM (4/7/13) at great speed, so that we other road users had to literally veer off the road whilst he screamed down it, blinking lights, tinted windows and all!

I have complained previously on 12/4/13 about the driver of this same vehicle, doing exactly the same thing down the same road at approximately the same time.

I don’t know who the hell he thinks he is, or who the hell the ‘important’ person he is driving for thinks he is, but it is high time something was done about both of them, before someone gets hurt or killed.

He and his passenger also need to be reminded that the vehicle he continues to drive so recklessly and so dangerously, without consideration or thought for other road users is paid for by  us, the taxpayers.  As well, his salary as well as the salary of his ‘important’ passenger is also paid for by us, the taxpayers.  Just in case their heads are so swollen, they have forgotten!

Farewell Julia Gillard

gruddFarewell Julia Gillard. no wonder you are smiling with a life pension of $200,000+ per year for all the damage you have done. The fact that you have been replaced by Krud Rudd means your party is well on the road to defeat.. Problem is that there will be two Primitive Minister pensions for the public to pay.. Is there no end to the rorts from your government. will Fast Eddie of NSW be getting a golden handshake as well?

Hemp is a Magic Plant

hemp_illegal34

HEMP COULD FREE US FROM OIL, PREVENT DEFORESTATION, CURE CANCER AND IT’S ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY – SO WHY IS IT ILLEGAL?

– Hemp is Earth’s number-one biomass resource; it is capable of producing 10        tons per acre in four months.
– Biomass can be converted to methane, methanol, or gasoline at a cost comparable to petroleum, and hemp is much better for the environment. Pyrolysis (charcoalizing), or biochemical composting are two methods of turning hemp into fuel.
– Hemp can produce 10 times more methanol than corn.
– Hemp fuel burns clean. Petroleum causes acid rain due to sulfur pollution.
– The use of hemp fuel does not contribute to global warming.

No Going Back

VFBI think what a lot of people who are anti Frank are missing is he has already changed Fiji – whoever wins the election, whether its him or someone else will have a different Fiji to deal with.
Talk of going back is just delusionary, and as so far it doesent appear that anyone in opposition has realised that and mounted any sort of ‘tommorrow’ instead of ‘yesterday’ campaign, which is not a great commmentary on the standard of politicians or Chiefs in Fiji at the moment, the odds appear to be in Franks favour.
Even I can think of a campaign strategy that would put pressure on Frank, mightnt win but would put more credible pressure on him without attacking him personally, which I think is just counterproductive, than we are currently seeing.
Think of the ‘Friends, Romans, Countrymen ….so were they all honourable men’ speech in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar by Brutus as the template of a clever strategy focusing not on the past, or even the most recent past i.e. Franks time, but tomorrow as the template.
Sort of a thanks Frank you have done a great job getting us to here now its time for a mature democracy to take over.
Trouble is there isnt a Brutus in Fiji.

So looks like he will win which then takes us to your adage re power and the point to be taken there is as far as I know only one person has successfully made the transition from nation healer to PM without becoming a Dictator and that was Lee of Singapore.
So to sum the odds are with Frank to win the election, but looking at history the odds are against him to make the transition – which doesnt mean he cannot or will not make it dont forget he has already defied the odds to get this far, it just means History tells us it is probably unlikely.

Shit is Important

shhsssAn atheist was seated next to a little girl on an airplane and he turned
to her and said, “Do you want to talk? Flights go quicker if you strike
up a conversation with your fellow passenger.”

The little girl, who had just started to read her book, replied to the total
stranger, “What would you want to talk about?”

“Oh, I don’t know,” said the atheist. “How about why there is no God,
or no Heaven or Hell, or no life after death?” as he smiled smugly.

“Okay,” she said. “Those could be interesting topics but let me ask
you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same
stuff – grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns
out a flat patty, but a horse produces clumps. Why do you suppose that is?”

The atheist, visibly surprised by the little girl’s intelligence,
thinks about it and says, “Hmmm, I have no idea.” To which
the little girl replies, “Do you really feel qualified to discuss
God, Heaven and Hell, or life after death, when you don’t know shit?”

And then she went back to reading her book.

Fiji’s Politics: Dr Shaista Shameem’s 10 Questions for Politicians Campaigning for 2014

Shaista ShameemFiji’s Politics: Dr Shaista Shameem’s 10 Questions for Politicians Campaigning for 2014

It is time to ask a few pertinent questions for the current or would be politicians to answer as they prepare for their campaigning to 2014.

These are issues of concern to constituents in all democratic countries but especially to people living in transitional contexts like Fiji where an authoritarian political framework is transforming to a democratic one. Politicians’ (correct) answers to the questions can determine who we will vote for:

The First Question is on Leadership: What qualities of leadership would you bring to Fiji if you win your seat in the elections and how would you ensure that the voice of your constituents will consistently be heard in Parliament?

The Second Question is on Economic Growth: What is the economic situation of Fiji now and how will you improve on that? Related to this question, what is your deadline for this improvement in economic growth to create a surplus?

The Third Question is on Social Services: Can you improve the social services currently in place? What are your ideas about uplifting services for those below the poverty line; disabled persons; children; pensioners who have lost their pension funds; and disadvantaged people’s access to land, education, public services and employment

The Fourth Question is on Foreign Relations: How do you intend to improve relations with neighbouring countries and the international community? Would you support a ‘Commonwealth of the Pacific’ or a ‘Pacific Union’ to facilitate new types of relationships?

The Fifth Question is on Access to Information: How soon after the election will you enact a Freedom of Information Law, if you win?

The Sixth Question is on Education: What is your deadline for reforming the old-fashioned and out of date education curriculum of Fiji?

The Seventh Question is on Relationships: What are your proposals for improving relations between and among the people of Fiji: what is your proposal for society-wide meaningful  conversations to take place?

The Eighth Question is on Security: What are your proposals for improving rehabilitation for prisoners and convicted persons? When do you think people would be able to remove burglar bars from their windows and doors?

The Ninth Question is on Employment: what are the correct unemployment figures for Fiji and what are your plans for reducing these figures without blaming lack of economic growth or investment?

The Tenth Question is on Art and Culture: What are your plans for improving the look and displays of the Fiji Museum; what budget will you allocate to improving the arts and culture scene of Fiji to modernise it?
