Is Ashwin Raj Incompetent ?

RAJOR DOES HE HAVE HIS HEAD UP HIS ARSE?
Head_up_ass

Dear Mr Raj

I sent a Letter to you on the 3 July 2014, requesting your response to a number of matters concerning the development of the media industry but you responded to only one query- that you had requested the media to give you their general editorial policy. You have refused to respond to the other queries directed to you as Chairman of the Media Development Industry (MIDA).

Nor have you asked the media why they did not print my previous letter on the salaries for Bainimarama and Khaiyum for the years 2010 to 2013. This question has been publicly raised by not just taxpayers and voters, but no less than Mr Mahendra Chaudhry a former elected Prime Minister of Fiji, and also Bainimarama’s own former Minister of Finance who one would expect to have a clue or two, on this particular issue.

While we wait for the media to respond to what you had asked them, I wish to ask you again to respond publicly to the following questions which all media are still interested in despite your previous refusal to respond. As a “level playing field” is an essential part of the development of a free, fair, competitive and transparent media industry, could you please inform the public what is your position on the continuing biases in the media industry itself:

(1) tax-payers advertisement funds being channelled by the Bainimarama Government only to Fiji Sun with The Fiji Times being totally denied.

(2) outright subsidies given to FBC via government budget and government guarantees of loans from FDB, with no such subsidies given to either Fiji TV or the other radio broadcasters, Communications Fiji Ltd.

(3) the clearly intimidating renewal of the license for Fiji TV on a six monthly basis, while FBC TV suffers from no such restriction

(4) While Fiji TV’s accounts are available to the shareholders, FBC accounts are not available at all to the taxpayers who supposedly own FBC.

(4A) Mai TV’s “scoop” at obtaining rights to the broadcast of FIFA World Cup (a legitimate entrepreneurial transaction admired in the business world) being forcibly shared by decree amongst the other broadcasters, on financial terms dictated by the Bainimarama Government rather than negotiated amongst themselves as a market transaction.

(5) have you queried Fiji TV and the owners Fijian Holdings Limited why respected senior journalist and administrator Mr Anish Chand was sacked from Fiji TV on this year’s World Press Freedom day (as was related to you during the World Press Freedom Day panel at USP).

Given that you have personally made many public pronouncements that you want MIDA to be accountable to the Fiji public, I would be grateful if
(a) you would request the media to print this Letter to the Editor,

(b) so that the public and the media can also note that these questions have been posed to you, and can wait eagerly for your usual interesting response.

Yours sincerely

Professor Wadan Narsey

Who Gets Elected ?

Prof WNElection Issues 20:   Again, who gets elected from the Party?

Many voters are still confused about how the “successful” candidates will be decided by the Elections Office.

Many are still thinking that the Party’s Preferred List and ranking of candidates will be used to decide who are elected.  NO. NO. NO.

Whether any candidate is elected will be decided not just by how many votes the Party receives in total, but also by how many votes the candidates themselves receive relative to their fellow candidates.

Let me simplify the article I had written previously, which was too long for many readers and had too many lessons in it (even if they were all important).

Eliminate Independents and Parties below 5% threshold

Locked in an Unbreakable Embrace

fiji firstFor better or worse Vorege ( Call me Frank)Bainimarama is locked in an unbreakable embrace with the man he has handed over control of our nation to; Aiyaz Sayed – Khaiyum.
Minister for Trade

Sink or swim, for better or worse, this marriage made in hell could destroy all Franks hopes, ambition and unfortunately most of the good he has achieved over the past 7 years, regardless of the fact our children’s children will have to pay the monetary debts he and his henchman have incurred.

Frank thinks he and his second First Party have as good as won the election, he may soon be very disappointed.

There are a great many voters who can see Aiyaz Sayed – Khaiyum for what he really is, and they do not like what they see. They do not want Aiyaz Sayed – Khaiyum to run Fiji for another four or more years.

We only have a few weeks to wait to see exactly how many.

S PFiji Airways finally has a leader in Stefan Pichler who has the ability to get the best from the people he has to work with, and does not need a team of overpriced consultants to back him up or support him.

Long may he reign.

Political-CorruptionWhere there is lack of transparency and accountability corruption flourishes, it erodes the worth of a nation and its people.

We in Fiji have had a totally non transparent administration for the past 7 years. There should be no immunity from prosecution for corrupt practices whilst holding political office.

WE ALL HAVE THE POWER TO STOP THIS ROT IF WE USE OUR VOTE IN SEPTEMBER.

REMEMBER THIS WHEN YOU VOTE.

old captainOne in three cases of Alzheimer’s disease worldwide is preventable, according to research from the University of Cambridge.

The main risk factors for the disease are a lack of exercise, smoking, depression and poor education, it says.

Previous research from 2011 put the estimate at one in two cases, but this new study takes into account overlapping risk factors.

Alzheimer’s Research UK said age was still the biggest risk factor.

A man walks into the Election office and says to the receptionist:
“I would like to put my name forward for the forthcoming elections to be an Independent candidate.”

The receptionist replied: “Certainly sir. Please fill in this form.”

He was filling the form until he came to the question – ”Are you circumcised?”

So he asked the receptionist,”Is this question necessary?”

She replied: “Sir, I’m sorry, but, if you are circumcised, you aren’t eligible to run for election”.

He asked, “What possible difference would it make if I were circumcised?”
She replied … “It’s quite simple, sir … To become a politician, you have to be a complete prick”!

Young FB

2006… A younger, fitter and still in control Frank Bainimarama

As Fiji prepares for its first elections in eight years, the new head of the all-powerful armed forces has admitted that citizens have been beaten and tortured by the military regime, claiming it was necessary to stave off civil disorder.

“I wouldn’t deny that these things happened,” said Brigadier-General Mosese Tikoitoga, hand-picked successor of Frank Bainimarama, who has stepped down from the military to contest the elections. “But a lot of these people were actually trying to instigate violence by creating anti-government movements or militant groups.

“They were talking on the radio and so on … If you let them continue to have a voice, you create a potentially dangerous environment. So it was the lesser of two devils.”

In his first interview with an overseas media organisation since taking over as commander in March, General Tikoitoga also vowed that the military would respect the result of the September 17 election. “We will not have another coup, as such – that’s quite definite,” he said.

However, the army would not tolerate an elected government rewriting the new constitution, he said. The constitution – drafted by the regime of self-appointed Prime Minister Mr Bainimarama, and Fiji’s fourth such document in 34 years – grants immunity from prosecution to everyone involved in the December 2006 coup.

One can understand Brigadier-General Mosese Tikoitoga support for the constitution that gives immunity from prosecution for those that took part in the 2006 coup, but does he also support the corruption and lack of transparency in government that has been in effect for the past 5 years since the military council had little or no say in this administrations policies?

Brigadier-General Mosese Tikoitoga is an intelligent man, he is fully aware as many others are, who is playing the tune that our esteemed leader is dancing to. Will he allow  this to continue after September ??? Can Fiji as a nation afford it to continue ?

Bainimarama deprived Fiji aged of their Civil Rights

fiji firstPrime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said during the implementation of the FNPF Pension Reform that the step had to be taken to ensure that the Fund is sustainable in the future.

There were other ways, and these were put forward to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama but he choose to ignore them, and choose to breach legal and binding contracts that a few pensioners had, further to ensure that these pensioners could not seek recourse through a court of law his government introduced a decree preventing pensioners taking their case to court and thereby depriving them of their basic civil rights.

Add to this the simple truth that in his SEVEN years of administration he and his government has done NOTHING to improve the pension situation for future Fiji pensioners… Except of course himself, ensuring that he will receive a Rear Admirals pension, plus any other perks he will be paid by the taxpayers as a former Prime Minister.

EVERY SENIOR CITIZEN OF FIJI, THEIR CHILDREN AND THEIR GRAND CHILDREN SHOULD REMEMBER THIS WHEN THEY VOTE
